Jamie Micah is a Los Angeles-based writer, musician, and audio producer.
His debut novel The Empathizer is a dystopian satire set in 2063 — a diptych structured around Poe's Masque of the Red Death and Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. The story follows a classically liberal Jewish narrator and his progressive sister as they're persecuted by an authoritarian left and an authoritarian right, and it makes a single argument: that ideological extremism follows the same pattern regardless of direction. The accompanying audio series was written, narrated, and scored by Micah, featuring a completely original, sample-free sonic landscape built for the story. It was written for the politically homeless.
Jamie's screenwriting has earned recognition from HorrorHaus, Lift Off NY, 13Horror, and Short Encounters. His music — released under Textures, Raspberry Cocaine, Till Death, and The Static Shock — has been featured in the LA Times. He has also composed and written the libretto for the rock opera The Three Tribes of Z Street.
He is currently at work on his second novel, The Tapes, a multigenerational literary novel in the tradition of Philip Roth — a turn toward more personal territory after the dystopian satire of his debut.
THE EMPATHIZER
A novel. A limited audio series. A diptych.
